The most expensive website in Naples is the one you have to pay for twice.
Updated August 2026. Written by the We Lead team in Naples, from real quotes, real builds and real client questions.
In Naples and Southwest Florida, a professionally built small-business website runs $2,500 to $6,000. Custom builds with e-commerce or booking start around $6,000. Below $2,500 you are no longer buying a built site, you are buying a template with your logo on it. Ongoing hosting, maintenance and updates add $50 to $300 per month.
Those are the ranges. What follows is the part that actually helps: what changes the number, where the money goes inside a build, and how to tell whether a quote is cheap because it is efficient or cheap because something is missing.
The three price tiers, and who each one is for

| Tier | Price | What you get | Right for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Budget builders & DIY platforms | Below our range | A theme with your logo and text dropped in. No strategy, no SEO foundation, generic structure. | A brand new business that needs to exist online this month and accepts rebuilding later. |
| Professional build | $2,500 – $6,000 | Custom design around your brand, proper structure, SEO foundation, speed work, content help. | Most established small businesses. The range where a site starts earning. |
| Custom / e-commerce | $6,000+ | Bespoke functionality, booking systems, product catalogues, integrations. | Businesses where the website is the operation. |
Where the money actually goes
A website invoice looks like one number, but it is really five jobs stacked together. Understanding the split is the fastest way to judge a quote.

- Discovery and strategy (about 10%). Who your customers are, what they search, what the site must accomplish. Skipped on cheap builds, which is why cheap builds look fine and convert badly.
- Design and revisions (about 30%). Layout, brand application, mobile behaviour, and the rounds of feedback that make it yours instead of the theme’s.
- Build and development (about 35%). Turning design into working, fast, secure pages that behave on every screen.
- SEO foundation (about 15%). Page structure, speed, schema, and the technical groundwork that decides whether Google can rank you at all.
- Content, testing and launch (about 10%). Real words instead of placeholder text, forms that work, analytics that record.
What actually determines your price
Number of pages
A five-page brochure site is a different job from a thirty-page site with a service page per offering and a location page per town. Pages are the clearest cost driver, and the easiest one to control: start with the pages that sell, add the rest later.
Custom design versus template
Templates are fast and cheap because the design decisions are already made. That is also their weakness: your site looks like the thousand others using it, and the layout was designed for a generic business, not yours.
Functionality
Booking, payments, memberships, calculators and integrations each add real development hours. A contact form is trivial; a scheduling system that syncs to your calendar is not.
Content
Somebody has to write the words. If it is you, the price stays lower and the timeline gets longer. If it is the agency, expect the quote to reflect it. The one option that always costs more later is placeholder text you never replace.
The SEO foundation
This is the line most often removed to win a price comparison, and the one you feel eighteen months later when the site looks lovely and ranks nowhere. Everything we build starts from the technical base described in our Naples web design work.
What a well-built website should prove
Ask any web designer to show you the scores of their own site, not their client’s best day. It is a fair question and it separates studios that talk about performance from ones that ship it.

That is the standard your money should buy. Speed is measured by Google and felt by every visitor: a site that takes four seconds on a phone loses a large share of them before it renders. Accessibility is a legal consideration as much as a courtesy. Neither is expensive to build in from the start, and both are painful to retrofit.
A budget build versus a professional build
| Budget build | Professional build | |
|---|---|---|
| Design | A theme, lightly recoloured | Built around your brand and your customers |
| Speed | Whatever the theme ships with | Measured and optimised before launch |
| SEO base | Usually none | Structure, schema, page-level targeting |
| Content | Placeholder or your raw notes | Written to sell, structured to rank |
| Ownership | Often locked to a platform | Yours: files, hosting, content |
| Two years later | Rebuilt from scratch | Extended and still earning |
The cheap site is not wrong for every situation. It is wrong when it becomes the thing you rebuild in eighteen months, because then you paid twice.
Ongoing costs nobody mentions in the quote
| Item | Typical cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Hosting | $10 – $50/mo | Cheap hosting is a false economy: it shows up as slow pages. |
| Domain | $15 – $25/yr | Keep it registered in your name, always. |
| Maintenance & updates | $50 – $200/mo | Security patches, backups, plugin updates, small edits. |
| SSL certificate | Usually free | Included with good hosting. Never pay much for one. |
| Content updates | Varies | Either your time or someone’s invoice. Budget for one or the other. |
Questions to ask before you sign
Who owns the site when we are done?
Files, domain, hosting and content should all be yours.
What is the SEO foundation you include?
If the answer is vague, it is not included.
Can I see the PageSpeed score of a site you built?
A live URL, not a screenshot.
Can I edit it myself afterwards?
And what happens if I want to leave?
What is not in this quote?
The most useful question of the five.
And one for us
Ask us all five. The answers are on this page, in writing, before you ever sign.
These five cover the money. The fuller interview, including who owns the domain, how to verify a portfolio in twenty minutes and the red flags that end a sales call, is in our guide on how to choose a web design company in Naples.
